POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician I will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. This will require a strong mechanical aptitude, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 

 

This full-time position reports directly to the Manager Maintenance and is located at our Rock Island, IL manufacturing facility. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, replacing filters, belts, bearings, etc.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to identify faults and implement solutions.
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner in collaboration with operators and leaders.
  • Assist in the installation, relocation, and modification of equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed and parts used.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent from accredited institution.
  • 1+ years of experience as a maintenance tech/mechanic in manufacturing environment AND/OR satisfactory completion of level I requirements from the LDI Maintenance Training Program.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 2+ year technical degree in Maintenance related field
  • Experience within the corrugated industry  
  • Experience with operational excellence or continuous improvement programs – Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen Events

  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work in crowded spaces for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to bend and stoop for 7+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to stand for 6+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to walk for 6+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to reach and grasp up to 6+ hours per shift
