POSITION SUMMARY

The Designer role is a key part of our design and graphics team. This role develops product packaging that complies with both product integrity requirements and visual appeal under varying shipping and display conditions.  The Designer works closely with a cross functional team to support our customer’s product needs. 

 

This full-time position will report to the Sales Manager and is based at our manufacturing facility location in Omaha, Nebraska.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with production, sales, commercialization / front end, and other stakeholders to deliver designs that meet all customer requirements.
  • Own process of customer requested samples to include, utilizing project management tool to prioritize tasks, assembly of samples, along with preparing samples for distribution.
  • Maintains all appropriate documentation including artwork, CAD drawings, specifications, testing documents, etc.
  • Manage stock material for producing customer samples and own replenishment process.
  • Monitor workload of orders, set up cutting table, produce orders, and communicate estimated time for completion to internal stakeholders.
  • Tests, analyzes, and selects materials for packaging based on durability and cost effectiveness.
  • Responsible for routine preventive maintenance on cutting tables.
  • Perform quality checks on samples and orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Advanced degree in structural, graphic, or industrial design and 2+ years’ structural and / or graphic design experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience with Artios CAD, project management systems and/or workflow automation, Adobe creative suites or similar, MS Office suite 
  • Previous experience with reading a tape measure  
  • Ability to use math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division   
  • Ability to read work instructions to identify detailed steps for order completion   

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience within the corrugated industry  
  • 2+ years of work experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Involvement with operational excellence or continuous improvement programs

  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to bend and stoop for 7+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to stand for 6+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to walk for 6+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to reach and grasp up to 6+ hours per shift
  • Regular sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day to accomplish tasks
  • Manual and finger dexterity used regularly with some repetitive finger motions
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision; able to identify colors, small letters, and numbers; hand/eye coordination, depth perception and able to adjust focus
  • Hearing and speaking
  • Other conditions may include frequent reaching, stretching, pushing, pulling, pinching, grasping, and gripping.
