POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Planner contributes to improving workforce productivity, work quality, and machine reliability by anticipating and eliminating delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts, material and equipment. The Maintenance Planner understands and aligns business operation and maintenance to ensure they meet or exceed expectations of outage planning and work order execution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans and schedules the execution of maintenance work orders and scheduled maintenance shutdowns including parts and materials requirements, mill manpower, contractor services, time estimates, and chronology of events.
- Develops, communicates and implements Work Packages that ensures compliance with LPI program, standardized procedures and systems, resulting in effective maintenance planning.
- Procures maintenance materials and equipment and manages shipment and delivery of equipment sent to vendors for rebuilds and repairs. Facilitates the new equipment asset approval process by creating and approving New Equipment Requests and forwarding to accounting.
- Manages and monitors maintenance costs including contract labor, parts, roll maintenance building service, etc. Communicates to management when costs may exceed budget and provides justification when they do exceed budget.
- Oversees the Roll Management program by recommending and collaborating roll cover and maintenance and maintaining records, both hard copy and in the Roll Tracking database.
- Serves as an active participant on a maintenance and production team Home Station Group(s) responsible for maximizing equipment production and availability.
- Schedules and leads maintenance shutdown planning meetings to meet the mill’s objectives.
- As business/maintenance needs require, reports to the mill during unscheduled work hours to assist in the resolution of maintenance and production problems. Assists on outage days.
- Actively works to drive Operational Excellence in maintenance planning activities.
- Assists stores in setting up and documenting parts or changes in existing inventory.
- Provides technical support to maintenance department on critical equipment planning
- Assists in developing equipment strategies including spare part stocking, PM optimization and PdM
- All other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- High School Diploma required
- 5+ years of experience industrial maintenance required or maintenance planning experience
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Technical degree (i.e. industrial maintenance, electronics and instrumentation) or significant related on-the-job experience as a maintenance planner
- Ability to communicate with technical specialists and to interpret technical/blueprint drawings and specification documents.
- Strong organization and communication skills with the proven ability to motivate and lead a team.
- High degree of self-motivation - Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully; bottom-line oriented; steadfastly pushes self and others for results.
- Great follow-up skills and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Strong decision-making ability, including the ability to anticipate problems, develop contingency plans and act quickly to resolve issues.
- Strong time management and planning skills required to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changes in business requirements in a fast-paced environment.
- Very good communication skills – ability to handle difficult conversations with employees
- Relationship Builder – ability to work with all levels within the organization; professionally represents self and LPI to external contacts.
- Very strong attention to detail/commitment to accuracy

- Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word and Outlook
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project preferred
