POSITION SUMMARY

As a forklift operator, you will be a key member of the Warehouse team and rotate between responsibilities to include fulfilling shipments to our customers, receiving incoming delivers, and serving as material handler for departments within the plant.

This full-time position reports directly to the designated Warehouse Supervisor and is located at Safco’s manufacturing plant in Milford, IA.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pick orders, drive forklift
  • Clear product from assembly lines
  • Load trucks for daily shipments
  • Receive materials into the plant from suppliers and other Safco locations
  • Receive and process Returned Goods
  • Create maximum load shipments while ensuring a high level of quality in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Drive for departments and serve as primary material handler.
  • Work in a manner that emphasizes safety of self and others. Follows all safety policies and guidelines
  • Provide support in production as requested or needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be stand-up and sit down forklift certified (or willing to become)
  • Must be able to lift 50-75 pound repeatedly
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist and lift for 8+ hours per day
  • Must possess good computer skills (past experience with the JDE ERP computer system is a plus)
  • Must be detail orientated.
  • Strong attention to detail

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 1-2 years of forklift experience or shipping/receiving experience is preferred
  • Prior work experience with JDE/Oracle in a manufacturing environment is preferred

  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work in crowded spaces for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to bend and stoop for 7+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to stand for 6+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to walk for 6+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to reach and grasp up to 6+ hours per shift
