POSITION SUMMARY
This position leads all plant operations for a 150+ employee, two-shift, manufacturing site. This leader ensures day-to-day operations are delivered with the aligned objectives of safety-first mindset, customer satisfaction along with growing and developing the leaders within the facility. This position also plays a critical role in developing and executing capital project plans for the facility to enable continuous improvement and growth in market share.
This full-time position reports directly to Liberty Packaging – General Manager and is located at Liberty Packaging’s manufacturing plant in Rock Island, IL.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct supervisor to a team of 6+ direct reports that lead major site functions of manufacturing, shipping, maintenance, and scheduling.
- Ensure employee relations stay connected with open and continuous dialogue
- Own end-to-end performance for the facility to meet KPIs in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery. Establish, measure, and monitor performance across facility and root cause performance issues. Develop and deploy plans to drive improvements in manufacturing processes to ensure superior product quality, reduced cycle times, lead times, and minimize overall manufacturing costs.
- Provide day-to-day leadership for manufacturing team decision-making in the areas of production, labor, material costs, design, and production scheduling.
- In partnership with Continuous Improvement function, guide leaders and front-line staff through the identification and deployment of continuous improvement initiatives with an impact on key performance indicators.
- Ensure the right talent and capabilities are in place to meet strategic objectives; accountable for establishing goals, managing performance, and developing teams to ensure short- and long-range objectives are achieved
- Establish a two-way communication & engagement culture to ensure all plant employees are clear on plant performance and connection to business performance, including KPIs.
- Lead key change initiatives across the plant in partnership with regional and functional support systems (e.g., continuous improvement, engineering, human resources, sales, etc.)
- Lead the successful identification, business case design, and execution of capital projects in partnership with functional teams and executive leadership. Ensure multi-year capital plans support market growth and customer delivery
- Develop and grow community engagement presence by representing plant locally in key activities and through execution of frequent employee and community engagement activities
- Own direct P&L responsibility for plant site
- Provide leadership by connecting and being visible to all three shifts daily

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Bachelors’ degree and/ or 10+ years relevant experience in lieu of education
- 10+ years manufacturing experience
- 5+ years people leadership experience
- Experience analyzing downtime, production, and financial variance trends, and identifying actions to deliver expected performance
- Previous experience developing and managing a budget, forecasting, and monitoring results
- Experience with identifying and executing capital projects to drive improvement against KPIs
- Demonstrated experience with organizational effectiveness, operations management, and a proven track record of achieving results
- Experience developing and presenting information to multiple levels of the organization from front-line to executive leadership
- Superior time management, attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, decision-making, and organization skills
- Excellent computer skills required, including Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience with Amtech / CTI or Kiwi
- Previous experience with ERP systems
- Previous experience in corrugated or paper manufacturing
- Lean and / or Continuous Improvement certifications
