POSITION SUMMARY  

The Shipping Lead position is responsible for providing front line coordination and technical / process leadership for a shift of warehouse and shipping team members in daily activities of loading, unloading, moving, and documenting WIP and finished goods, as well as participating in those activities directly. The Lead helps to ensure that scheduled shipments are available, loaded, and shipped on time. Our team lead also directs daily shipping activities and priorities, and trains employees.   

   

This full-time position will report to the Warehouse Manager at our Liberty Packaging corrugated box plant in Fort Worth, Texas.  

   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Based on the direction established by the Warehouse Manager, responsible to lead, instruct, train, and coordinate with shipping team members across shifts
  • Creates written plans and pick lists for shift forklift operators.
  • Loads and unloads trailers; documents trailer plans and the location of WIP and finished goods. Ensures units are accurately scanned into their locations.
  • Ensures that trucks are loaded fully in a timely and accurate manner, according to the shipping plan.
  • Communicates with the Warehouse Manager, other shifts, shipping leads, and other internal partners to ensure trucks are fully loaded and/or depart on time, and that progress and issues are communicated and resolved timely.
  • Provides technical support, problem solving, and accountability for employees on their designated shift.
  • Runs and reviews reports including due date and inventory reports to ensure proper prioritization of shipping activities.
  • Coordinate dock appointments for customer drop-offs or pickups, as needed.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

   

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS  

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution AND 2+ years warehouse experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ months of previous team or process lead experience.
  • Experience with warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, inventory control, and order fulfillment.
  • Previous experience reading, writing, and completing detailed work instructions.
  • Previous experience with computer skills such as typing, printing and data entry.
  • Ability to use math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

   

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS  

  • Excellent communication skills and a high degree of responsiveness and empathy for internal and external customers.
  • Experience in manufacturing warehousing operations
  • Experience within the corrugated or paper industries
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus but not required.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop for 7+ hours per shift.
  • Must be able to sit and stand repeatedly for 6+ hours per shift.
  • Must be able to walk for 6+ hours per shift.
  • Must be able to reach and grasp up to 6+ hours per shift.
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision; able to identify colors, small letters, and numbers; hand/eye coordination, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing and speaking.
  • Other conditions may include frequent reaching, stretching, pushing, pulling, pinching, grasping, and gripping.
