POSITION SUMMARY 

The Manager, M&A and Strategy Excellence will play a crucial role in driving and overseeing the successful execution of strategic initiatives within LDI, and lead market & competitive research, Merger & Acquisition (M&A) target profiling, and due diligence for M&A activities. The position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining project processes, governance, and standards, ensuring that individual initiatives across all LDI business units align with LDI strategic goals. The position will work closely with senior executives, strategic initiative owners and sponsors, and cross-functional teams to facilitate change and drive continuous improvement. This position reports directly to the VP of Strategic Planning and is located at LDI’s corporate headquarters in New Hope, Minnesota. 

  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

M&A 

  • Monitor market and competitive trends to identify opportunities for growth within LDI industry sectors and adjacent markets.
  • Conduct research on M&A target companies in order to determine strategic fits as potential acquisition targets.
  • Develop ideal contact approach for various M&A targets and facilitate contact and connections between LDI and potential targets.
  • Manage and refine M&A evaluation tools and keep consistent evaluation methodologies.
  • Lead the acquisition due diligence process, identifying key risks and develop mitigation plans with various internal and external stakeholders.

 

Strategy Excellence 

  • Collaborate with strategic initiative owners and sponsors to define and align objectives with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive strategy implementation roadmap to guide all efforts.
  • Establish and maintain project governance, including project selection criteria, prioritization, and oversight.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish a system for tracking and reporting strategic project progress.
  • Monitor strategic project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to keep strategic goals moving forward as planned.
  • Develop and implement project management methodologies, software/tools, and best practices.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership and stakeholders with regard to strategic initiatives.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including executives, project sponsors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

  

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in project management, strategy leadership, M&A or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of change management principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

  

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

  • MBA preferred.
  • Certification in project management is a plus.
  • Paper and Packaging, Office Products and Furniture, or Plastics experience is a plus.
