POSITION SUMMARY

As the General Manager at Liberty Plastics, you will lead and manage Liberty Plastics Baldwyn, MS and Golden Valley, MN teams and work collaboratively across Liberty Plastics’ business to provide vision, leadership, and day-to-day management. This leader is responsible for meeting business objectives and customer requirements with a focus on product and process excellence for one manufacturing plant and one administrative office group. You will lead and manage the business in a manner that will produce desired revenue growth with the balanced interests of all stakeholders. Liberty Plastics is a part of Liberty Diversified International; one of the largest, growing, privately held companies in the Midwest.

 

This position reports directly to our Chief Executive Officer and is located at the Liberty Plastics manufacturing site in Baldwyn, MS.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

         Serve as the senior leader for Liberty Plastics; provide direct leadership to functional direct reports including sales and operations with shared leadership to Finance, EHS, and human resources.

         Plan, develop, organize, and execute the Liberty Plastics growth-focused business plan to meet company financial and strategic objectives, which includes overall P&L responsibility.

         Leads and encourages problem-solving by all departments in addressing opportunities within the workplace.

         Proactively works to ensure exceptional customer service is delivered by the team.

         Work collaboratively across the Liberty Diversified International organization and specifically with the Liberty Plastics functional leaders.

         Manage resources to effectively balance strategic objectives with financial return and the efficient use of assets.

         In partnership with other LDI Leaders, seeks growth/acquisition targets to drive division growth.

         Ensures manufacturing schedule attainment is meeting customer service expectations, cost, and quality considerations.

         Work closely with the sales team and customers to analyze, plan, and implement new opportunities.

         Lead the development and implementation of all safety policies and programs with the corporate EHS team to promote a culture of safety.

         Establish and maintain customer and other related business relationships; participate in key customer and supplier visits and calls.

         Manage employee performance by establishing clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against goals, ensuring timely feedback, and addressing performance challenges in a prompt and professional manner.

         Serves as a strong representative of LDI/Liberty Plastics in the industry and communities at large.

         Other duties, as assigned. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

         Bachelor’s degree in management, operations, or related field.

         10+ years of senior leadership experience in general management, plant management or senior-level functional experience (working in multiple functional areas such as sales, marketing, distribution, and finance) within a manufacturing environment necessary.

         Strong manufacturing and/or operations experience.

         Strong management/leadership skills and ability/willingness to sponsor change.

         Effective communication skills and ability to work with all levels of Liberty Plastics organization.

         Strong customer focus.

         High personal standards with a proven track record of integrity, business ethics, and professionalism.

         Action-orientation with initiative to achieve results.

  • Strong organization and communication skills. Ability to manage and develop leaders within the organization with the proven ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to report business results to all levels of the organization.
  • Relationship Builder – ability to work with all levels within the organization; professionally represents self and Liberty Plastics to external contacts. 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

         Corrugated plastic or closely related industry experience.

         Preferably, this candidate will have significant operational and continuous improvement experience.
