POSITION SUMMARY

As Warehouse Shipping Lead with Safco, you will assist in overseeing and coordinating the shipping operations within the warehouse and department material handlers to ensure we are meeting delivery demands of our internal and external customers. Primary functions will include maintaining shipping records, preparing necessary documentation, providing training and support to team members while fostering a safe working environment and enacting improvements to help the team meet their SQDC goals. This position will collaborate cross functionally with various departments.

This full-time position reports directly to the designated Production Supervisor and is located at Safco’s manufacturing plant in Milford, IA. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead improvement initiative for the department
  • Delegate work and handle multiple tasks at once
  • Assist in the day-to-day shipping and warehouse responsibilities
  • Assist in training in all segments of the department
  • Interact with other production departments
  • Point person to take on special projects and employee training
  • Active job knowledge of all functions in job area
  • Work in a safe manner with an eye toward quality
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • A high school diploma or GED

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience with an ERP system, a plus 
  • Prior forklift experience a plus or willingness to become forklift certified
