Machine Operator

POSITION SUMMARY

As Machine Operator in our Wood Department, you will utilize high-quality standards and solid machining techniques to ensure proper metal fabrication of our parts for the final product. Working with other production cells, you will ensure product meets internal and external quality standards.

To be successful, you should be able to work with consistent speed and accuracy, while maintaining production standards and working towards improved productivity without compromising quality. Flexibility and adaptability is key in this position as we flex our talent to volume demand.

This full-time position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is located at Safco’s manufacturing plant in Milford, IA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate Wood fabrication equipment (eg: saw, cnc operated router, edge banding machines, and drill). 
• Use overhead hoist and any other required material handling equipment to maneuver dies and materials
• Use inspection / measurement equipment and review prints to ensure work is meeting or exceeding quality standards
• Enter Work Order data required for labor reporting into the computer system
• Work in a manner that emphasizes safety of self and others.   Follows all safety policies and guidelines
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be able to read prints and use inspection equipment/measuring devices

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Experience in a wood / metal manufacturing plant a plus
• 1-2 years of experience in Wood Fabrication
• Prior work experience with JDE/Oracle in a manufacturing environment a plus
