POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Maintenance Planner (Lead) creates and provides maintenance outage/shutdown and daily planning and will serve as the lead to a team of maintenance planners, providing daily work direction and expectations.  This position will work closely with the maintenance and reliability teams, engineering, production, and contractors to provide effective planning/scheduling of daily work and outage/shutdown functions. The Senior Maintenance Planner (Lead) will report to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Efficiently coordinates maintenance work by anticipating, prioritizing, & scheduling work. Provides daily work direction/coordination to a team of maintenance planners.
  • Plans all maintenance work orders including parts and materials requirements, mill manpower, contractor services and time estimates.
  • Procures maintenance materials and equipment. Manages parts and equipment sent to vendors for rebuilds or repairs. Collaborates with Purchasing to ensure timely procurement of parts and materials.
  • Demonstrate a proper sense of urgency and discipline to balance break-in and scheduled work, provide a weekly forecast of work to schedule.
  • Develops, communicates, and implements Work Packages that ensures compliance with LPI programs, procedures, and policies, resulting in effective maintenance planning.
  • Manages routine and shutdown maintenance work order costs, communicates to management when costs may exceed budget, and provides justification when they do exceed budget.
  • Schedules and leads maintenance shutdown planning meetings to meet the mill’s objectives.
  • Effectively communicates changes to outage schedules to the groups that are involved, in-house and outside contractors.
  • Maintains equipment BOM’s for area.
  • Oversees paper machine roll repair plan and timeline.
  • Tracks and is accountable for maintenance planner KPI’s and reports them to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager. Follows up on assigned action items for the planner team.
  • Must be willing to put in the necessary time as maintenance needs require, report to the mill during unscheduled work hours to assist in the resolution of maintenance and production problems

STANDARD DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, and safety policies.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with coworkers and leadership teams.
  • Recognizes and acts on incidents and safety risks.  Consistently practices and enforces safe work habits and drives those habits throughout the organization.
  • Actively participates in facility committees, events and/or meetings (i.e. Community Involvement Team, Environmental and Safety committee, etc.)

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Technical degree or significant related experience required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in maintenance or planning in an industrial setting.
  • Experience leading others.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software; Excel, Word, and Outlook.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Business, Engineering or related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • JDE Business Software Knowledge preferred.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude, good interpersonal skills, good planning and organizing skills, and a high degree of self-motivation.
  • Customer oriented, adaptable, open, and responsive to change.
  • Pulp and paper industry experience.
