POSITION SUMMARY

As a Production Lead with Safco, you will help teach and support use of safe practices, utilize high-quality standards and solid techniques to ensure proper assembly and fabrication of our parts for the delivery to the customer. Primary functions will be to treat safety as our first priority, but also enact improvements to help the team meet delivery timelines, quality standards, and drive engagement.  This position will collaborate cross functionally with various departments. You will guide the team through the day-to-day priorities and provide input to the Supervisor.

 

This full-time position reports directly to the designated Production Supervisor and is located at Safco’s manufacturing plant in Milford, IA.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead by example related to safety being our number one priority
  • Drive engagement within your designated department as well as the focus factory support functions
  • Use action plans to drive improvements as recommended by your Supervisor/Manager
  • Engage with the SQDC process for your department
  • Lead improvement initiative for the department
  • Delegate work and handle multiple tasks at once
  • Assist in the day-to-day operator responsibilities
  • Assist in training in all segments of the department
  • Interact with other production departments
  • Point person to take on special projects and employee training
  • Active job knowledge of all functions in job area
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have knowledge of all or most areas of the department they are responsible for
  • Must have experience with the computer programs in the department they are responsible for
  • Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques
  • Must be able to lift 50 pound repeatedly
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist and lift for 8+ hours per day
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate a computer and access programs, make transactions, and solve simple computer functions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Prior work experience with JDE/Oracle in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Prior leadership experience is preferred

  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work in crowded spaces for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to bend and stoop for 7+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to stand for 6+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to walk for 6+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to reach and grasp up to 6+ hours per shift
